Child abuse: The Church´s response
Documentaries • 26m
The abuse crisis has shocked the Church. These crimes and cover-ups have left many of the faithful in a state of 'shock.' Additionally, they often do not receive adequate information about it.
We have listened to the victims and shared their pain. However, we hardly ever know the measures the Church has taken. This is usually because many media outlets have limited themselves to the morbid details of abuse, while they have hidden structural or personal responses.
This 26-minute documentary analyzes the reality of abuse throughout society. We also examine the pioneering actions some dioceses have taken to prevent it. Overall, we interview those responsible for the protection of minors in the diocese of Pittsburgh, Penn., the Archdiocese of Mexico and the Order of Augustinian Recollects, as well as the Center for Child Protection in Rome.
We recall that many of the complaints relate to the last century, and measures already put in place by Benedict XVI have been effective.
Above all, we give voice to the victims, especially to those who have found their way back to the Church.
