He said in this invocation one sees the pattern of all prayer. These are contemplation of God and sincere supplication for one's needs.
He said the expression “in heaven” refers not to the distance that separates one from God, but to the radical diversity of His love.
The pope explained why the “Our Father” holds the key to having a sincere relationship with God.
At the General Audience, he requested prayers for the 28 people killed in a shipwreck in the Bahamas.
The pope reflected on his trip in Panama, stressing the need for young people to be taken more seriously.
He remembered the informal word with which Jesus addressed God the Father.
“If things don't change, at least prayer changes us, it changes our heart.”
“Take some time, stand in front of the manger and be silent,” he said.
To explain the eighth commandment, he said a person can lie in many ways, not only with words, and spoke of the "serious" consequences of not having authentic relationships.
He explained that the final commandments are the end of an inner conversion.
